Indonesia - Young Workers Workshop

23 young members/leaders, 9 female and 14 male, from six affiliated unions in Indonesia active participated in two days youth workshop on Quality Public Services. The workshop organised by Southeast Asia Sub-region office from 16 to 18 November 2007. The workshop aimed to encourage young workers actively participates and engage in the trade union movement in Indonesia:
  • identified young workers problems and challenging and its impacts to workplace, union and in the society;

  • introduced and promoted PSI policy program and strategic objectives 2007-2012 specifically session (5) on gender equality, equity and diversity an its commitment of PSI for young workers through changed of its rules;
  • Shared and discussed with affiliated unions national leaders on organizing and recruitment of young workers in the union and how the union can be changed to attract them;

  • Proposed recommendation to the PSI Indonesia National Coordinating Committee a young workers coordinators and their union itself;

  • Appointed among themselves coordinator and co-coordinator to coordinate and organize of the communication of the Indonesia young workers network
